PRODUCTS I RECOMEND TO HAVE ON HAND:

  • White Cotton Standing Bandages - Set of four. These bandages do not stretch, so there is less chance of adding injury from the bandage. They bleach and clean up good. They look extra sharp on your horse. All famous horse are seen in these.

  • Padded quilts - To go under the bandages. The benefit of these particular quilts is, to prevent further injury from a bandage that is too tight.

  • Sheet Cotton - Used mostly to go under the rundown or running bandage. Same benefit as the quilt.

  • Safety pins - Used to fasten the standing bandage or polo bandage.

  • Colored Tape - Used sometimes instead of pins. You can buy colored tape or duct tape also.

  • Fura-Zone Ointment - To sweat a swollen or inflamed area.

  • DMSO - To heat an area or drive in a medicine.

  • Absorbing Jr. - Used for an all-purpose liniment to sooth tired ache joints, tendons, and ligaments.

  • Poultice - For reducing swelling and pain in legs, knees, hocks, and hoofs

  • Corona - Rub this into the coronet band to absorb some of the shock from the pounding on any surface, and to promote hoof growth. Corona also has anelgesic properties for cuts and abrasions.

  • Needles - Talk to your vet about what gauge needle you need for the drug you are using.

  • Wonder Dust - Used on open wounds in the prevention of proud flesh.

  • Panalog - You get this from the vet. I have experienced a faster and cleaner healing of wounds using Panalog.

  • Epsom Salt - Used for soaking an abscess in the hoof. It will dry the frog, so treat the frog area after soaking with the products - Reducing or Itchthammol.

  • Itchthammol - Used to draw an abscess from a bruised hoof.

  • Vinegar - Mix a couple of tablespoons in with grain for digestion. To mix in hoof packs and liniments.

  • Vetrap - Excellent bandage rundown, and running bandage. Great for wrapping wounds and hoofs.

  • Red Pepper - To sprinkle on a bandage to keep the horse from chewing off his wrap.
